Conventions
I'll try to use the same conventions as are "standard."
All motions are assumed for the character facing the right.
The connection commands are:
- + = read as "at the same time as"
- , = read as "following"
- ~ = read as "quickly following"
The buttons are:
- 1 = left punch
- 2 = right punch
- 3 = left kick
- 4 = right kick
- 5 = tag
the controls are:
- N = "neutral" joystick in center position
- f = tap foreward
- F = Hold foreward
- b = tap backwards
- B = hold backwards
- ff = tap forewards twice quickly
- fF = tap forewards twice quickly and hold the second foreward tap
- bb = tap backwards twice quickly
- bB = tap backwards twice quickly and hold the second backward tap
- u = tap up
- U = hold up
- d = tap down
- D = hold down
- fc = "full Crouch" hold down
- df = tap diagonally down & foreward
- DF = hold diagonally down and foreward
- db = tap diagonally down and back
- DB = hold diagonally down and back
- ss = side step
- qcf = "quarter circle foreward" done by d,df,f or d,df,F
- qcb = "quarter circle back" done by d,db,b or d,db,B
- hcf = "half circle foreward" done by b,db,d,df,f or b,db,d,df,F
- hcb = "half circle back" done by f,df,d,db,b or f,df,d,db,B
- cd = "crouch dash" done by f,d,df
- wgf = "wind god fist" Mishima's right punch crouch dash cd+2
- ewgf = "electric wind god fist" f~d~df+2 (Jin & Heihachi only)
- tgf = "thunder god fist" Mishimas left punch crouch dash cd+1
- ws = "while standing" or pressing a button while your character is in the motion of standing, from a crouch
Hopefully that wasn't too hard to swallow, this page is a good reference
and will be linked from every page that uses these conventions (so don't stress
about learning it.)
Oh yeah, button buffering. You can simplify button presses by
pressing and holding a button then tapping another. Make sense? no?
ok. Picture this.
- you want to use a right throw.
- press and hold 2
- keep holding 2
- now press 4
- Viola! you just button buffered the right throw.
the real beauty of the buffering system is that it makes complex
button presses a bit easier to manage (especially for multi-throws.)
For instance, the last input to Pauls ulitmate punishment
is 4,2,1+2. It is fairly uncomfortable, and awkward w/o buffering.
However, the notation becomes a much easier 4,2(hold),1. Hopefully,
that clears it up for you.
